OctaMED
~~~~~~~
OctaMED is a special version of MED, that can play 8 tracks at once using
the Amiga hardware. Those who have seen Oktalyzer or StarTrekker1.2 know
what I'm talking about, for those who haven't, some information:
As mentioned, OctaMED is able to play 8-channel sound on standard Amiga
without extra hardware required. The sound quality is not as high as with
4-channel sound, but it should be good enough for most purposes. Some less
important features are also disabled in 8-channel mode (mostly because of
the CPU load).
One quite unique feature is that OctaMED can multitask while playing in
8-channel mode. This is not very useful on 68000 machines, but VERY useful
on >= 68020 machines.
OctaMED can also display 8 tracks onscreen. This is useful for those who
are using MIDI, too (as the 8-track display is not limited to 8-channel
mode only).
Now I hear you asking "Where can I get it from??". First, OctaMED is NOT
public domain or freely distributable. OctaMED is a licenceware program.
This means that I will get my share of the profits for every copy sold,
so by buying this program you'll also support me (but this doesn't mean that
you can't send money directly to me, too :^)
OctaMED is exclusively available from a British PD-distributor Amiganuts
United (you can't get it from me, for example). The price, including mailing
costs, is £10 for all European countries, and £15 for non-European countries.
The payment MUST be made in POUNDS STERLING, by International Money Order,
Bankers Draught or Cheque (as long as it is in Pounds sterling).
